It was taken last week when I was helping out a fellow VSO volunteer by delivering a training session on case study writing for a group of women from Nairobi Family Support Services. They are volunteers who will be working as Community Based Rehabilitation counselors, providing peer mentoring and support for mothers of deafblind children in Kibera.
None of these women are well-off, none were being paid and some spoke quite limited English but they were focused, committed and in two hours got to grips with the idea of telling a story better than some of my old clients from the UK ever will. It was a pleasure to work with them.
Rest assured, normal blogging service will be resumed going forward, comprising the usual blend of holiday snaps and half-baked cultural analysis.
